Pork & Chinese Cabbage Roll with Lemon Pepper Garlic

Chinese cabbage is one of my favourite vegetables. It’s easy to prepare and cook, the flavour is not too strong, therefore it goes well with most other ingredients. Garlic and lemon also work very well together. I tend to use soy sauce all the time, so when I would like to make something slightly different, it’s this lemon pepper garlic sauce.

You can prepare this menu in advance.

Ingredients

  • 400g thin sliced pork such as pork belly
  • 2 chinese cabbage leaves
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1/2 fresh lemon
  • Black pepper
  • Salt
  • Flour for dusting

Instructions

  1. Prepare the meat. Cut the meat into slices 10cm long. Lightly season with salt and pepper. Cut the Chinese cabbage core into thin slices, and cut the leaves into 10cm strips. Mince the garlic. squeeze the lemon, set a side.
  2. Dust the Chinese cabbage leaves with the flour, then put the pork slices onto the leafs. Roll the leaves together, with the meat at the end.
  3. Heat a small frying pan on medium heat, add a touch of cooking oil. Start to cook the pork and Chinese cabbage roll with the leaf joint at the bottom. Pour in 1 tsp of water, then put the lid on. Cook until the meat starts to turn white, then turn it over. Add the garlic into the frying pan, cook together.
  4. Season with salt and black pepper, then add the lemon juice. Bring it to the boil, and turn the heat off.
