Onigirazu (rice sandwich)
Onigiri is a typical traditional Japanese rice “ball” (although in fact the shape is more usually triangular or oval). Onigirazu means “not nigiru”, in other words: “Do not make the Onigiri ball or triangle shape”.
There is often a filling inside – or sometimes they are just salted. If you want a filling, it can be anything you like! You can create your own custom-made Onigirazu!
For those who are interested, Nigiru is a verb which means “seize/clutch/grasp/hold on/clasp/grip …” hence nigiri-sushi (a roll) and the Onigiri rice ball.
